Charli XCX - "Boys" Footnotes

It’s always more fun to watch a music video when you have some background deets, like the artist’s intention and director’s vision. Our ‘Footnotes’ series does just that, and this time we’re naming names. Charli XCX’s “Boys” video teems with more than 60 male celebs, and the list is ginormous, including Khalid, Jack Antonoff, Diplo, Charlie Puth, Sage The Gemini, Joey Bada$$, MNEK, Mark Ronson, Wiz Khalifa, Stormzy, Mac DeMarco, D.R.A.M., Vance Joy and lots of others. Charli who co-directed the vid with Sarah McColgan, told Junkee that she made “a conscious decision not to be in the video” because she wanted to “avert the male gaze.” Have fun checking out all the boys.
