Thunderpussy's Three Thoughts on Social Media Killing Live Shows

When Thunderpussy rolls over you, you don't get up. From MotherLoveBone to Soundgarden, that's been the case with several Seattle-based acts, and the fierce attack of the four women who comprise the group follows in the tradition of careening electric guitars riding a rhythm tsunami while a singer explodes. Vocalist Molly Sides, guitarist Whitney Petty, bassist Leah Julius and drummer Ruby Dunphy throw an ominous vibe into their intense mix just to keep things on the dangerous side. Their video for "Badlands" is a fierce prayer to the natural world, and their "Speed Queen" clip is a barroom brawl that casts them as badass biker babes. For their "Torpedo Love" vid, they set up at a abandoned nuclear plant near home and had the echoes and reverberations shape the performance. All three songs are from Thunderpussy's self-titled debut. They destroy onstage, but they have one problem with performance: audiences who rely too heavily on their phones during a show. See what they have to say about the ills of social media in our exclusive interview, Three Thoughts on Social Media Killing Live Shows.
