Wyclef Jean interview

Some fans consider Wyclef Jean a hub of sorts. The Haitian native, who was a founder of the Fugees, is expert at forging a wealth of sources into something richer than its individual elements. That’s what his Carnival records have been all about. As a producer, he enlists an array of artists and blends them together to make a statement about the power of disparate voices uniting as one. He began this work 20 years ago with ‘Wyclef Jean Presents The Carnival featuring the Refugee All-Stars,’ and he’s back investigating it with the new ‘Carnival III: The Fall and Rise of a Refugee.’ Our exclusive chat finds Clef detailing what each of the records had to say, and explaining how the new disc will introduce his music to millennials while tickling his older fans.
